Deformation and fracture of hexagonal close-packed metals"或者"Fabrication of semiconctor through chemical vapor deposition"等等。
Inquiry into graate admission of fall 2011"。
在主题中包含course number ,"Question about 3009 assignment" 或者"question about English 2011 essay." Question about English assignment" or "question about assignment," without identifying the class you're in, may leave your professor with the chore of figuring that out. For someone teaching large lecture classes, that might mean reading through hundreds of names on rosters. But even for a professor with smaller classes, it's a drag to get an e-mail that merely says "I'm in your English class and need the assignment." All your English professor's classes are English classes; she or he still needs to know which one is yours.
称呼
Salutations matter. The safest way to start is with "Dear Professor So and So" (using their last name). That way you won't be getting into the issue of whether the prof has a Ph.D. or not, and you won't seem sexist when you address your female-professor as "Ms." or, worse yet, "Mrs. This and That."
Choose an appropriate greeting. "Hi/Hello Professor [Blank]" is always appropriate. Substitute "Dear" and you've ended up writing a letter; leave out "Hi" and your tone is too brusque(无礼).
I am writing to enquire about …"或是"I am writing in reference to …"
这句话必然要遵循这个格式:My name is *** (全名),and I am … My name is Jeremy Bentham, and I am a graate student at the Queen’s College, Oxford.
1. 多用I was wondering if(一定要用was,而不是I wonder或I am wondering)。
甚至shall we...
Would it be possible (for you) to arrange an appointment (for me) some time?
2. 避免使用I want和I would like,实在要用,就用I would love。
Ask politely. "Could you e-mail me the page numbers for the next reading? Thanks!" is a lot better than "I need the assignment."
“What great news! I'd be thrilled to meet with you 。。。”
“Would it be convenient to 。。。“
”Yes, it would certainly be fine to 。。。”
“Would you prefer to 。。。”
“I look forward to it with great pleasure and thank you for your efforts and time.”
“Thank you for the very kind XXXX. I was touched by your thoughtfulness, and assure you that it was wholly my pleasure to xxxx. I'm delighted to know that 。。。。
”Thanks for all of your effort and service to xxxx. It's been a pleasure to work with you and I'm looking forward to the results of your xxxx"
" I hope you had a very good Spring break in spite of this much appreciated work that you've done for...."
"I'm looking forward with great pleasure to working with you on xxxx"
“ I hope this email finds you well..."
" We're honored and grateful for your support ..... and eagerly look forward to your thoughts ....."
Thank you for your patience and cooperation."或"Thank you for your consideration."
If you have any questions or concerns, don't hesitate to let me know." 及"I look forward to hearing from you."
Thank you, and I look forward to hearing from you.
Thank you for your kind cooperation.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Thank you for your understanding.
Thank you for your consideration.
Thank you again for everything you've done.
Signoffs and signatures count. Always end by thanking the professor for his or her time, and closing with "Best wishes" or "Regards" (or some other relatively formal, but friendly, closing). And always sign with your (entire) real name, not some wacky nickname like Ry-Ry or Biff.
Best regards," "Sincerely,"及"Thank you,"都很规范化。
[熟了之后就可以多姿多彩了,例如可以写:Best, Cheers, Regards, See you soon, Nice weekend, 云云。
“Best wishes“
“With very best wishes”
“With all best wishes”
"With warm regards"
“With thanks and best regards“
"with very best wishes and much gratitude" (gratitude....-_,-)
"Best regards for a great weekend"
“With warm regards for a sunny and relaxing break”
“I hope you're all enjoying an excellent break”
"I'm grateful for you all, and wish you and yours a very happy Thanksgiving."

Step 1: 筛选学校与教授--英国博士申请需要先和教授进行沟通,如果沟通的效果不错,可以继续第二步;
“You can find details of the universities’ research interest groups by subject area if you are looking for a supervisor for your own research proposal. It is recommended that you contact your potential supervisor in advance of submitting an application form, in order to discuss your ideas.”
Step 3: 构思Research Proposal-- 如果申请者的研究方向与导师一致,就可以开始准备Research Proposal了;
“Your research proposal should include an outline of your research interests, your initial thoughts about the topic, references to previous work, and the method and general approach you wish to take. You should also indicate how this research will make an original contribution to knowledge.”
·SOP (Statement of Purpose)
·GRE/Gmat
●Research Title(研究标题)
●Abstract/Outlining(研究摘要)
·Research Question(研究课题)--导师最看重的部分
·Rationale(基本原理)
·Hypothesis(假设条件)
·Method(研究方法)
·Finding(研究发现)
Introction(研究背景)
·Study Purpose(目的性)
·Necessity and Importance of the Research(必要性)
·Rationale and value(合理性与研究价值)
·Independent and Dependent Variables, Phenomenon(独立变量与因变量 研究现象)
·Hypothesis or Theory(假设或理论)
·Research Boundaries & Focus(研究边界 研究聚焦)
●Literature Review(文献综述)
·申请者需要展示其研究有一定的理论支持(请勿简单的罗列文献);
●Methodology(研究方法)
·申请者需要告诉导师将用什么方法来解决研究问题(充足的信息与细节);
●Discussion/Results(讨论与结果)
·申请者需要讨论该研究预期达到的研究成果;
·该研究将带来的贡献;
●Reference(参考文献)

銆銆As Zhangjing鈥檚 lecturer of managerial economics for the first term of the Minor Program, I was deeply impressed with her outstanding performance .I believe the professionali *** , top-tier teaching resources, and worldwide reputation of your university will provide an ideal platform for Zhang to study. Therefore, I hope you can give her an opportunity to make the most use of her potential.

I was deeply impressed with Zhang鈥檚 academic strength and outstanding learning ability demonstrated in my class. I still remember that she corrected my mistake, when other students did not even realize I was wrong. Then she came to me and explained the mistake to me. And it turned out that I was picturing the diagram by mistake. Then she also explained her solution to me which turned out a more lucid one. When I explained her solution to other students, they also can understand it. I then understood that her knowledge in her major played a significant role in studying Economics. Also Zhang鈥檚 logical thinking left a deep impression on me. When she interpreted her train of thought to me, I can understand her without any difficultly.

After class I also had some munication with Zhang and did enjoy the conversation with her. Once she asked me something concerning stock. I told her what I had known and discussed some question with her. She even connected the stock with the whole economic circumstance in China and did some parison about the general economic environment between the west countries and China. I can feel her aspiration about learning Economics. She is really good at municating and I felt fortable and easy to talk to her. She can always put herself in other鈥檚 shoes and you will be understood ring the munication very well. I firmly believe that, with these great abilit

To whom it may Concern,

I am writing this letter to attest to Paul鈥檚 skills in language and public relations. In the four years I have known him, I have been consistently impressed with his ability not only to negotiate plex ideas in other languages, but also to relate these things in a personable, conscientious fashion. His manner in these cases is both professional and personal, two qualities which I find particularly valuable in a professional setting. He has personally helped me in professional negotiation for everything from train tickets to contract information, and I have always been able to count on him.

I first met Paul in school, where he was a student at the university at which I taught. He was well-known to most of the westerners in town, who could call from different universities to ask for his help. Sometimes this help involved translation of professional documents, and sometimes it involved personal help in making phone calls. Many of these westerners continue to call him today, even though they live quite far away from him, because they have e to trust him very much. From this foundation in public relations Paul has found positions in various professional capacities and has been highly-valued in each place. He is generally the sort of employee a pany finds most valuable in its dealings with both foreign and domestic clients. He puts people at their ease with his language ability and manner, both of which municate to people that they can relax and simply municate.

I would highly remend Paul as an employee. His experience and manner are rare and very valuable.

Dear Colleagues:

MS. XXX requested a letter of reference from me to support her application for graate studies at your university. As her research adviser when she was a graate student in my school of science Beijing University of Chemical Technology, I am pleased to ply with her request.

銆銆*** UI have known Ms. Zhang since 2003, when she was admitted as a Master of Science candidate into the school. As her research adviser, I directed her research and found her a promising youth radiating with intelligence and creativity. During her first year, she got a very good record in major courses and earnd good scores major and general GPA 3.3. She particularly enjoyed challenging areas of studies such as Quantum Chemistry and Theory of Electrochemistry.

During the following two years, Ms. Zhang worked on a putational theory study of inorganic functional materials project for his degree thesis 鈥淭heoretical Study of Electronic Structures of Several Representative Metal Element in the Hydrotalcite Slabs鈥. To make the theory model meet the actual materials, she faced down many practical problems, such as building reasonable mole of inorganic materials, and calculation techniques. Working hard and independently, she cracked the problems one by one, and came up with a thesis that was characterized by academic excellence. During her M.S. period, she had three papers published in international journals.

Judging by her outstanding performance while she studied with me, I am convinced that Ms. Zhang has acquired the knowledge and intellectual sophistication on the basis of which she can undertake world-class training. I therefore lend her my enthusiastic support and would appreciate your favorable consideration of her application.
