1. 為什麼要寫自傳? (WHY)

先了解為什麼要寫這篇自傳。只是單純的敘述自己? 還是申請工作、申請國外大學用的…?

2. 閱讀的對象是誰？(AUDIENCE)

確定寫這篇自傳的原因之後，再確定誰會是我的讀者：自己? 朋友? 家人? 老師? 學校? 老闆? – 因為閱讀的對象不同，自傳的主題也會不同。

3. 閱讀資料(READ)

決定了寫自傳的目的和閱讀的對象之後，再來就是搜集一些類似的自傳、閱 讀一下，看看別人是怎麼寫的。

在網路上你可以找到許多人的自傳，例如歌星、影星、教授、政治人物…你 可以找出適合你要寫的自傳、參考運用這些類似自傳的格式和內容。

4. 決定自傳的主題 (DEVELOP YOUR THEME)

有了主題，你就可以知道你的人生片段，哪些需要多寫、哪些要少寫，哪些甚至不需要提起。

寫自傳並不是像寫寫歷史小說一樣列出一個時間表而已；你必須先決定你的自傳主題，再依據這主題，寫出驅使你人生不斷成長進步最重要的事項和動力即可。

5. 組織自傳的格式 (ORGANIZE YOUR AUTOBIOGRAPHY)

一般最常用的格式是依時間順序紀事(chronological order)的自傳；這種格式 的優點是找出一個適當的時間點切入至一個時間點而結束，比較直接了當， 也便於讀者的閱讀和記憶。

建議你可以先寫一個OUTLINE (綱要)。

不需要從小寫到大，可以跳過一些不重要的幼童經歷。也不要一昧的照著綱 要寫，綱要的目的只是協助你不要偏離你的主題。

6. 開始寫了(START WRITING)

先不用太在意文法或修辭。只要先把你想要表達的意思很自然快速的寫出來就可以了。

自傳不要誇大、也不要過於謙卑，內容要不亢不卑，誠實有自信。

7. 編輯你的自傳 (EDIT YOUR COMPLETED WORK)

寫完之後開始檢查。
