在美國，最具影響力的大學排行榜是《美國新聞和世界報道》的最佳大學排名。該排名始於1983年，廣受關注。

US News商科排名 雖然US News的商科排名是對MBA的一個排位，但基本上商學院各方面的實力也是會影響到金融專業碩士的授課質量，那同樣可以作為衡量的因素來納入考慮。特別有一點就是有些學校也許在綜合大學排名上位置不高，但是在商學院排名中有很不錯的評價，比如UT-Dallas，Temple University等，往往這類學校倒是性價比頗高的選項。 另外，美國的頂級商學院認證(AACSB)有14家創始學校，其中自然包括不少開設金融專業碩士的名校，比如Columbia University，New York University，Tulane University，University of Pittsburgh等等。這類比較適合較強本科背景，有著牛實習或是已經有不錯工作履歷的專業人士來申請。 其實以上提到的種種劃分只大體反映了院校的聲譽、地點等因素，以及由此決定的申請的難易程度，對於沒有特殊背景和特殊考慮的申請者有一定參考作用。如果說能明確自己將來職業目標，或是對課程設置長短，修課內容等有特別要求的申請者來說，則建議最好可以跳脫出所謂的排名，來個體地觀察每個學校的項目情況，在此基礎上進行擇校。 請查看：《出國留學讀金融專業可了解內容》和《如何選擇海外院校》
