"Don't even think about it!" is a phrase commonly used in the United States when a person emphatically denies or refuses something. In 1995, Shaquille O'Neal, a popular basketball player, made a Pepsi commercial in which this phrase was used.

The commercial begins with Shaq playing basketball, and a ltte kid is watching him. Then
the boy cries out the name of this basketball star. Shaq turns to see the kid with a Pepsi in his hand. He walks over to the boy and says, "Hey, can I have it?"

He bends over, supposing that his admirer will give him the Pepsi. But hen the kid says, "Don't even think about it!" This commercial was rather popular, and it had been shown on TV for about three years. The commercial seems to have a more dramatic effect than that proced by the Coca-Cola company in the 1970s.

In the Coke ad a young boy meets football star "Mean" Joe Green as he is leaving the field after a game. The boy gives his hero a bottle of Coke, and in exchange for the drink, the football player throws his towel to the boy, who excitedly catches the souvenir. The phrase "Don't even think about it!" is used on many other occasions.

Visitors to New York City are often amused to see a road sign with these words. "Don't even think about parking here." This road sign means that people are strictly prohibited from parking there.

(have/has done)

Then leaves turn water and carbon dioxide into sugar in the presence of sunlight and chlorophyll. This process is called photosynthesis. Leaves are mostly green because chlorophyll is green. As a matter of fact, there are, in leaves, small amounts of yellow and orange all along, but they are covered up by the green chlorophyll in summer. They show up in fall as chlorophyll disappears from the leaves, e to the decline of photosynthesis. The bright reds and purples we see in leaves of trees like maples are made mostly in fall. The brown color of trees like oaks is made from wastes left in the leaves.

Text 1
Exercise 1: 1. C 2. B
Exercise 2:
In the 20th century there were two main theories on the origin of the universe. One is the steady state theory, and the other, the big bang theory. According to the former, the universe has always existed and will exist forever. If this view were correct, the universe should have looked the same millions of years ago as it looks now. but astronomers have found that the old universe did not look the same as it does now. therefore, the steady state theory does not seem to be correct.
The big bang theory states that the universe began in a massive explosion at a single point in space about 15 million years ago. If the statement were right, there should exist in the universe the cosmic background radiation from the explosion. Researchers have found evidence for its existence. In the 1960s, while studying radio signals from the Milky Way. researchers at Bell Labs found their work experiencing interference from every direction. They discovered that the interference turned out to be the cosmic background radiation . So the big bang theory appears to be the correct.
