目前俄亥俄州立大學在哥倫布的主校園是美國最大的單個校園。
俄亥俄州立大學是俄亥俄州排名第一的公立大學，是《公立常春藤大學》之一。
校內碩耳射電望遠鏡，是世界上最大和使用最長的，用於搜索外星智慧的射電望遠鏡。

俄亥俄州立大學與中國很多高校一直保持著良好的學術交流合作，不少知名教授經常來
華訪問。中國農業大學、俄亥俄州立大學及巴西聖保羅大學於2002年10月在北京簽署了一
份有關三方的遠程教育、合作交流研究、人員互訪等方面的合作協議，目前部分內容已進入
實質性合作階段。

吳偉克，是俄亥俄州立大學東亞語言文學系中文部教授，康乃爾大學中國語言文學博士。

在俄亥俄州立大學就讀，其生活休閑不錯，除了不定期會有文化活動之外，也有購物中心、電影院、劇院、體育設施及餐廳等，戶外活動也很盛行，像是健行、攀岩、滑雪、高爾夫、露營等等，都是這里的居民常從事的休閑活動。

2019年9月9日，《美國新聞與世界報道》（US News and World Report)）發布了2020的美國大學綜合排名（National University Rank），《美國新聞與世界報道》（英語：U.S News&World Report）是一本新聞雜志周刊。編輯部位於華盛頓特區，但其總部設在紐約市。該排名主要針對本科教育。對於不同專業的研究生教育，US New有單獨的研究生院排名。

4. 美國大學排名TOP50名大學學校有哪些
首先，大家平常所說的「美國大學前50」是指的《美國新聞與世界報道》，即US News & World Report每年出版的美國國家級大學綜合排名（National University Ranking）的前50。這些國家級大學指的是公立和私立的綜合性研究型大學，包括哈佛、耶魯、普林斯頓等常青藤名校以及加州大學伯克利分校、密歇根大學等頂尖的公立學校。 除了這個國家級大學排名外，《美國新聞與世界報道》編排的美國本科學校排名還包括其他數個類項，即：國家級自由文理學院（National Liberal Arts Colleges）、最佳公立大學（Top Public Schools）、最佳本科教學學校（Best Undergraate Teaching）、區域性大學（Regional Universities）、區域性學院（Regional Colleges）、性價比最高學校（Best Value Schools）、本科最佳商科項目（Best Business Programs）、本科最佳工科項目（Best Engineering Programs）以及最佳創新學校（Up-and-coming Schools）等。根據《美國新聞與世界報道》自己披露的信息，其排名通過計算和平衡以下八點得出：
1.同行評估：各學校校長、教務長、招生主任對所關注學校的評價（15%）；
2.高中學生顧問評估：約1800位高中學生顧問對大學或學院知名度的評估（7.5%）；
3.升學率：學校六年內的畢業率以及大一學生的升學率（20%）；
4.教員資源：每個課程的平均學生人數、教員薪酬、教員學歷水平、學生人數與教員人數比以及全職教員佔全部教員的比率（20%）；
5.對學生的挑剔程度：被錄取學生的標准化考試分數、被錄取學生在高中的排名情況以及申請人錄取率（15%）；
6.財政資源：平均在每個學生身上的財政花費（10%）；
7.畢業率實現：學生的預期畢業率與事實畢業率之比（7.5%）；
8.校友捐贈（5%）。
《美國新聞與世界報道》常常會對大學排名各類指標的分量比重做出調整，也就是說其歷年排名之間也沒有絕對的可比性，並且含有一定的。另外，從以上八點可以看出，《美國新聞與世界報道》的排名有一定的偏頗性，比如學生畢業的就業率、就業後一定時間段達到的平均收入、用人機構對於學生素質的評價、社會對學校的總體認可、學校教員研究成果等因素就沒有被考慮進去。根據這種排名辦法，財大氣粗的常青藤以及其他一些私立學校就總會獨占鰲頭，而往往受到政府財政制約的公立學校在排名中就總會被排得靠後一點，當然這種偏頗性很大程度上是難以避免的，因為一個評價體系不可能考慮所有影響因素。因此，盡管《美國新聞與世界報道》的大學排名是最有影響力的排名之一，它並不是衡量一所大學或某一學科項目優劣的最公允和有效標尺，更不是得到任何官方承認的權威判定，所以學生和家長在選校時不能僅參照這個一個綜合排名，而需要根據自己個人情況參考更多第三方信息

近日，《美國新聞與世界報道》對2005年度美國高校進行了排名，該排名不僅包含了高校的綜合排名，還從專業領域、國際學生的數量、錄取學生的比例、學生畢業率等多個方面進行評估。評估對象是美國248所授予從本科到博士學位的綜合大學，其中162所為公立大學、86所為私立大學。
