Hello everyone.Today I'm glad to be here to give a speech about my fresh experience in China Agriculture University.
First I must say the campus life is really different from what I have experienced in high school.For instance,I used to lean upon my dormitory teacher to wake me up on time.But now I have to set several alarm clocks to make myself could hear them in the morning otherwise I would miss my class.And then even worse there would be nobody remind me
except my teacher!So the differences are everywhere and I could easily find them.The change of life is great and it's wonderful:I have more time of my own and the rights to decide how I live.

我們在國內學英語，老師說trip和journey的區別在於前者指短途旅行而後者指時間較長一點的旅行，其實並非如此。老美們一律把旅行叫做trip，管你時間長還是短。
還有樓層數的表示方法，我們學英語時覺得「一樓」最煩，叫做the ground floor，「二樓」才叫the first floor，很搞腦子;但是老美們的思路非常簡單，「一樓」就叫the first floor，「二樓」就叫the second floor，以此類推。還有，老美同學從來不把自己大學叫做university，總是用college來取代，彷彿在他們的概念里college就是大學，然而我們的知識是college只是university里的一個學院而已。
最後再說一個行李問題，國內書本上都教的是luggage，美國人卻只說baggage，而這個詞卻還有另一層奇怪的意思，就是妓女，真不知道美語是怎麼設計的。
跟美國當地同學相處，會發現很多不同的語氣感嘆詞，這些可以作為基礎知識為即將赴美留學的人士做個提醒。比方說，美國同學愛說yikes，表示非常驚訝的一種語氣詞，而我們表達感嘆時一般只會「哇噢(Wow!)，其實這個已經out啦。還有一種他們愛在一句話前先發出一聲「Gee……」，也是一種表達驚訝或贊賞的口氣。比如他們會說：「Gee，你居然拿了個A!」「Gee，今天有派對可以參加!」等等。

2、spring chicken和lame ck是指春天孵出的小雞和瘸腿的鴨子嗎?當然不是，讀一讀下面這兩句話，猜猜它們的意思吧。(1)The woman said，over forty，so I'm not a spring chicken any more.(2)The governor of our state ended up as a lame ck when he lost the election. 6、couch potato和mall rat是兩個和美國人生活習慣有關的俗語。couch potato指一有時間就坐在沙發上看電視的人，一聲不吭，一動不動，就像一個圓滾滾的土豆。而mall rat當然不會是購物中心的真老鼠，而是指沒事兒老喜歡到mall(大商場)里去逛的人。
7 、baby boomer，yuppie(雅皮士)，dink(丁克)，sandwich generation這四個詞反映了美國經濟和社會變化。二戰結束後的二十年內，美國人口激增，那個時期出生的人在美國被稱作baby boomers，因為boom有激增、暴漲之意。yuppie(雅皮士)(young urban professionals)是指生活在大城市、受過高等教育、生活富裕的成功職業人士。dinks (double income，no kids)是指那些有很好的工作和收入，但是不要孩子的夫婦。sandwich generation則恰恰相反，他們是既要贍養老人，又要撫養下一代，像三明治一樣被夾在中間的經濟負擔較重的一群人。
8、 green thumb和all thumbs也是兩個很有意思的俗語。green thumb指善於養花種草的人，這些人總是能把花園收拾得綠色怡人，養出來的花草光亮健康，羨煞那些費了很多勁兒，種出來的花草蔬菜卻總是半死不活的人。 所以，green thumb就是那些很會養花種草的人。如果說一個人是all thumbs會是什麼樣呢?想想看，拇指雖好，可要是十個指頭都長成短短粗粗的拇指，干起活來肯定很難受。因此all thumbs便是形容一個人笨手笨腳。
9、nerd和jock是美國學生常用的兩個俗語。nerd的意思和漢語中的“書獃子”類似。這類人聰明勤奮，但卻過於保守嚴肅，在校園里頗讓人瞧不起。 jock則恰恰相反。他們魁梧帥氣，很受女孩子們的歡迎，尤其擅長American football和basketball等各種體育運動。當然，校園中也不乏漂亮的girl jocks。
