計算神經科學 國家自然科學基金（青年）: 基於KKT條件的優化遞歸神經網路簇設計（2009-2011）;
國家自然科學基金（面上）：基於稀疏編碼模型的深層學習神經網路（2013-2016） 研究工作集中在計算機科學與認知神經科學的交叉方向，研究興趣包括人工神經網路和計算神經科學。一方面，對揭開大腦的奧秘感興趣，尤其是大腦處理感覺信息和決策信息的機制，主要使用的工具是層次化的計算模型和貝葉斯理論。也在嘗試用功能性核磁共振成像(fMRI)結合機器學習的方法探索大腦的工作機制。另一方面，對受大腦啟發的計算方法感興趣。研究集中在設計遞歸神經網路求解優化相關的問題。正在嘗試結合更多的認知神經科學方面的知識，提高深度學習模型在物體識別和檢測方面的精度和效率。
針對大腦的視覺腹側通路的信息處理機製做了一些工作，建立了一系列層次化模型用來解釋通路上各層（包括V1, V2, IT等區域）神經元的反應特性。兩個較典型的工作是對HMAX模型進行改造，加上稀疏特性和反饋連接，能更好地解釋一系列的神經科學數據，相關結果分別發表在PLoS ONE (2014)和Neural Computation (2010)上。
關於受大腦啟發的計算方法，在過去的近十年間，大部分工作集中在遞歸神經網路求解優化問題的理論和方法上，深入挖掘了已有模型的特點，並設計了一系列新的模型，相關成果發表在多篇IEEE匯刊上。在深度學習方面也做了一些工作。在IJCNN2013年德國交通標志檢測比賽中，使用卷積神經網路在兩類標志上獲得了第2名和第4名。除了物體識別和檢測，圖像的顯著性區域檢測也是比較關注的應用。借鑒心理學中的一個理論Reverse Hierarchy Theory，構建了一個層次化模型，能較好地預測人眼在圖像中的注視點。該成果被計算機視覺的重要會議CVPR』14錄用。 教育部自然科學一等獎（排名第3）：神經動力學優化模型及應用（2012）

③ 清華大學計算機專業創始人

清華大學計算機科學與技術系成立於1958年，由時任校長蔣南翔倡議。
1958年鍾士模教授負責籌建回全國第一個自答動控制系，並擔任首任系主任，開展對自動控制和計算機領域重大課題的研究。由於自動控制系是計算機系前身，該系任務就是培養自動控制及遠動控制、計算機專業幹部，所以鍾士模教授可稱得上清華計算機專業的創始人。
